We have a sitter!

Yes we do! Alan is finally sitting on his own! Now he is not sitting for long periods of time on his own but he is able to do it. Here are some pictures of him sitting and the subsequent falling. :) He is up and happy right now...

And he is on his way down now! Alan actually had not hit the ground yet in this picture but he was almost there!

I am sooo proud of him right now! We also have done 4 days of eating cereal. Day 1 and 3 were GREAT and he ate all the cereal without any problems. Day 2 was a mess and that was the only day we tried cereal twice in one day. He didn't have any problems with the rice cereal yet so today we decided to add in our first vegetable, carrots. Boy did he LOVE carrots! I wish Matt had been home to get a picture of Alan with his mouth WIDE open wanting carrots. So he is going to have carrots for a few more days with the cereal, then we will try either sweet potatoes or peas. I haven't decided which one to try first.

This will probably be my last post until after Christmas. We will be heading up to Raleigh, NC to see Matt's parents on either Tuesday or Wednesday. We haven't decided on a departure date yet. :) We will be up there until Saturday but once we get back and get settled I will post pictures and updates from Christmas! I hope that everyone has a blessed Christmas!

Eventful trip to the Doctor

First of all, HAPPY Half-Birthday Alan! Our little boy is 6 months old today! We also had our 6 month well baby check up today too. Alan's doctor said he was doing really well! He had much better head control this time and he hasn't had any problems with his monitor. That being said, his doctor received the recommendation from MUSC to DISCONTINUE his monitor! So as of today he is finally done! We are so excited that he is off of everything now! Our little boy looks like a normal baby. Who would have thunk it! The only concern that she had was that Alan didn't gain as much weight as she would have liked and told us to start cereal today. So Alan and I made a mad dash to the grocery store to get some baby food. I was completely taken by surprise that we needed to start food today and didn't have any baby food at home. I was originally going to make my own baby food but we had to start out with something so I got a little bit of every organic baby food. Our first try at cereal went really well! He was all wide mouthed trying to eat as much as he could! I was really excited about that! Hopefully we keep this up.

On a side note, I will be going for two different doctor appointments in the next few months. One is to have some of my "sun spots" biopsied and the other is a surgical consult for my eyes. I had surgery to correct my lazy eye when I was 5 and the optometrist here wants to send me out to see if there is a way to fix it again. We shall see how things go and I will keep everyone posted as we get more information. Your prayers though would be greatly appreciated. I know that the Lord can heal/fix anything and everything. I have to say it would be nice to be able to see just one of everything instead of two. :)

Cirque du Baby

My little boy is such a hoot! He finally is figuring out how to move around a little better even if he doesn't want to roll over anymore. He does like to do the spin in circles thing though. Not much really to say right now but I just wanted to post some silly pictures of my son. Got to love his daily entertainment!
Alan also found his feet this past week and as a result I can't keep his feet out of his mouth!

See how graceful he is! If he was a girl I would say he looks like a ballerina or a figure skater but since Alan is a boy, I don't have a clue what to call him right now other than my silly little monkey!

He doesn't like me taking pictures of him while he is practicing for Cirque du baby. What a little silly boy!

More of the streching action! At least we know that at some point in a man's life they are able to multi-task. Now I know that they quickly forget how to do it but at least I have it on film now!

Nana and Pop Pop's

Alan and I made a trip up to Wilmington, NC this weekend to see his Great Nana and Great Pop Pop. Alan was such a good boy the entire trip. He was very happy and I know he made Nana very happy. She just could not stop talking about how cute he was and what a good boy he is. It was really nice to be able to go up to see Nana and Pop Pop again. It has been since the wedding that I have seen them. It was also nice to get some pictures of them with Alan. I know that Alan will appriciate that later on. Here is a three generation picture. This should tell you how much Nana loves Alan, she was watching him and not the camera. :) I really wish that we could have gotten a four generation picture but we have 2 three generation pictures so I guess that works just as well.

The funny thing is, we can't seem to get the two of them looking at the camera at the same time. :)

We are hoping that we might be able to go visit again in April. I know that Uncle Mark, Aunt Gale and Scott are going to be at Nana's for Easter so Alan and I might go up to visit then. Matt will still be in school getting ready for Comp so he won't be able to make it up. But we shall see how things go.

Sorry it has been so long.

Sorry I haven't updated the blog in a bit. It has been really crazy busy in the Burmester household since we got back from Atlanta for Thanksgiving. As soon as we got back, Matt started studying like crazy for two tests he had that week. As a result Alan and I spent several nights together since Matt didn't get home until midnight some nights and 9:00pm other nights. I know Alan missed his Daddy horribly and because of this, he was a complete wreck every night. The nights Matt came home around midnight, Alan would cry for at least two hours trying to go to sleep. This didn't make me a very happy woman at all.

We had our Christmas dinner at church on December 5th. It was a really great time fellowshipping with the other families from church. Pastor gave us a really cool puzzle gift. If you are in the Charleston area any time soon I will show it to you. It took us a few minutes to get it figured out.

Here are some of the pics from Thanksgiving! Matt and Jeff were in charge of carving the turkey. Leslie and I figured if we cooked it they could carve it! :) Matt kinda scares me with that knife though.

I took care of the gravy and Leslie did the stuffing while the guys were carving. Although while the stuffing was fluffing Leslie took pics. I am so glad that she got some because we really didn't.

Here is the table with Alan as our decorations. He LOVED that bouncy seat. It is a shame that we didn't find this out until he is just about to grow out of it. But we did make a note of it for baby #2.

Here is the other end of the table with the twins. They were plotting to take the tablecloth off the table with all the food. Silly babies!

Jeff and Leslie with Alan. I have to say it was such a blessing for Matt and I when Jeff and Leslie babysat Alan for us so we could go on a date. It was very strange being out and about without him but it was nice too. We were able to get some Christmas presents for him and the twins and have dinner. I think this was the first time I ate dinner with both hands instead of having a baby in one arm and trying to eat with the other. Thank you SOOOOO MUCH Jeff and Leslie!!!
